Mission Statement
Dairy Farmers, Inc. (DFI) is Florida’s
milk promotion organization, enhancing the industry's image and increasing milk and dairy product sales statewide via marketing and education.
Membership
DFI’s membership encompasses the
Sunshine State’s milk-marketing cooperative – Southeast
Milk, Inc. DFI’s Board of Directors is comprised of
dairy producers representing this member cooperative. DFI
is one of 20 member organizations of the United Dairy Industry
Association and carries out the programs of Dairy Management,
Inc., the umbrella organization based in Chicago, Illinois.
The Dairy Check-Off Program Dairy producers throughout the
United States invest 15 cents per hundredweight to fund the
dairy check-off program. Of that 15 cents, 10 cents per hundredweight
is invested through state and regional programs such as DFI.
The remaining five cents is invested through the National
Dairy Promotion and Research Board. Since the check-off started,
200 billion pounds more total milk has been sold beyond U.S.
Department of Agriculture projections.
Education Efforts
To foster eating habits that last a lifetime, Dairy Farmers, Inc., through its Dairy Council of Florida division, has made a strong commitment to youth nutrition education.
The Dairy Council of Florida is helping schools evaluate their school nutrition environment to ensure students have access to healty dairy foods and beverages throughout the school day. The cafeteria, classroom and community are essential partners in achieving these goals.
Milk Advertising
The “got milk?” Milk Mustache
marketing campaign is jointly funded by the nation’s
fluid milk processors and America’s Dairy Farmers.
The multi-faceted campaign educates consumers and corrects
misconceptions about milk.
In addition to the Florida dairy farming industry’s
traditional media flights, DFI often partners with media outlets
to present regional programs and events.
Media Relations
Dairy Farmers, Inc. provides Florida
media with industry information and recipes via print, audio,
and video news releases; pitch letters; fact sheets; brochures;
and personal contact.
Retail Programs
Since Florida’s supermarkets are
the primary point-of-purchase for milk and dairy products,
Dairy Farmers, Inc. works with Dairy Management Inc. to reach
consumers in the retail environment. Examples of such efforts
include "3-A-Day" of Dairy and the got milk? campaign.
Sports Marketing
To assist youth in forming healthy eating
habits, Dairy Farmers, Inc. couples its education programs
with sports marketing; thereby, encouraging the development
of strong minds and bodies. |

The Dairy Council of Florida offers nutrition
education materials and training tools, plus other "promotional" items
FREE to school and health professionals working in the state of Florida. For those
outside Florida, please log on to nationaldairycouncil.org
