Ever wonder where your milk comes from? Many times, people are quick to respond that it “comes from the grocery store.” And while that answer is not incorrect, the milk that Floridians enjoy has a story behind it that starts before it reaches the store. Florida has a thriving dairy industry that makes it possible for people to enjoy a fresh supply of milk.
Agriculture is all around us in Florida. In fact, it is our state’s second biggest industry with dairy farming playing a key role. Florida is home to more than 130 dairy farms that are located on wide open green pastures. We have more than 110,000 dairy cows in Florida that produce more than 250 million gallons of fresh milk each year.
