Derrick Brooks Contest Winners

Schools can play an important role in educating children about nutrition, health and physical activity to help prevent future health concerns.  Several studies show that investing in children’s physical health also improves their emotional and psychological well-being and ability to learn.

The NFL and the Dairy Council of Florida are committed to helping kids stay healthy by educating them about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity.  The Derrick Brooks Fuel Up to Play Every Day Essay Contest was open to fourth-grade students from Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties.

The grand prize includes a visit to Miles Elementary by NFL All-Pro Linebacker Derrick Brooks and $100 in NFL merchandise.

1st Place: Sienna Henson- Miles Elementary (Tampa)

2nd Place: Andrew Lauer- Chain of Lakes Elementary (Winter Haven)

3rd Place: Katie Ferrucci- Lithia Springs Elementary (Valrico)
