
Bucks for Breakfast Grants
The Bucks for Breakfast Grant will recognize Florida schools for bringing a healthy breakfast to more children in creative ways by providing grant funds to buy the necessary items to:
- Further promote or expand existing alternative-site breakfast programs
- To initiate the start-up of an alternative-site breakfast program at a school
Grant funds can be used to purchase items necessary for service, transportation, cooling, heating, promotion, marketing and/or sanitation. Items under consideration will be evaluated based on their ability to help school nutrition programs promote increased breakfast participation.
Eligibility
The Bucks for Breakfast Grant is open to all public schools in Florida that are currently offering or planning on offering an alternative breakfast service. Any School Nutrition Professional may apply for this grant. Each school may apply only once.
Alternative breakfast includes alternative points of service such as:
- Breakfast in the classroom
- Grab-n-go breakfast
- Breakfast after 1st period
- Breakfast at the bus stop
- Breakfast on the patio
- Breakfast vending machines
- Breakfast clubs
- Breakfast at the track
Evaluation and Selection Criteria
The Bucks for Breakfast Grant applications will be evaluated on:
- Impact on students, staff and community
- Thoroughness of application
- Clear expression of thoughts and ideas
Applications will be evaluated by the Dairy Council of Florida.
Grant Amounts
Distributed in amounts up to $10,000
Application Deadline
Applications will be accepted from September 1, 2009 – October 30, 2009
Reporting Deadline
The 2009/2010 Bucks for Breakfast Equipment Grant Report is due by June 1, 2010. For a copy of the Grant Reporting Form, e-mail Jamie@floridamilk.com.
