To help build strong bones and reduce risk of fractures and osteoporosis, the below report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) encourages pediatricians to regularly assess children's calcium intake and recommends physical activity and calcium from dairy foods.

2007 Grant Program

The winner of the 2006 3-A-Day of Dairy Education Grant was More Health, Inc from Tampa. 

More Health will use the $5,000 grant to update and revise its nutrition lesson "Fit for Life." 

They plan to reach 4,000 Pinellas County middle school students with nutrition education programs

empowering kids to be advocates for healthy eating and including three servings of dairy a day. 

 

Lactose Intolerance

Tips for keeping dairy in your diet:

  Drink milk with food.

  Aged cheeses like Cheddar and Swiss are low in lactose

  Introduce dairy slowly, and gradually increase the amount

  Reduce it. Enjoy lactose-free milk and milk products.

  Yogurt with active cultures helps digest lactose.
