Jacksonville Student’s Artwork to be Displayed on Cover of 2012 Holiday Card

Florida Dairy Farmers has selected 7-year-old Kevin McAfee’s artwork for the cover of its 2012 holiday card. Kevin’s colorful drawing was selected from 120 entries submitted by children around the state as part of FDF’s second-annual holiday art contest.

This year’s theme – How Santa Got His Milk Mustache – encouraged kids up to age 14 to create an original piece of artwork showing why Old St. Nick loves a tall glass of milk with cookies. The success of the organization’s 2011 contest featuring the theme, Celebrating the Holidays on a Florida Dairy Farm, prompted FDF to run its statewide competition for a second year.

This year’s winner, a second-grader at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School in Jacksonville, often spends his afternoons coloring and painting. His aunt is an elementary school art teacher and has helped him develop his artistic skills. “Christmas Eve is my birthday, and I like to share my cake, chocolate milk and ice cream with Santa because those are his favorites too!” says Kevin.

The holiday card will be mailed to more than 500 friends and colleagues of FDF nationwide during the first week of December.
