Dairy Council of Florida Attends Worldwide Day of Play in Jacksonville
Some experts believe that if unhealthy habits among kids continue to increase, our current generation could become the first in American history to live shorter lives than their parents.
The Dairy Council of Florida, JaxParks, Jacksonville Jaguars, The American Heart Association, Jacksonville Children’s Commission and Winn-Dixie stores recently partnered to celebrate Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play. On September 26th, Nickelodeon stopped programming for three hours and suggested that children go outside and play.
About 400 kids were in attendance and participated in free activities and sporting challenges, along with Jacksonville Jaguars mascot Jaxson de Ville. The kids also received nutritional guidance from Trisha Howell, Registered Dietitian from the North Florida Health Education Center. Trisha, along with several of her students, were on hand to educated the children on the benefits of healthy eating and provided them with healthy yogurt parfaits and smoothies.
