Florida’s Dairy Farmers Get Involved with the Southern Women’s Shows
Florida’s dairy farmers participated in the annual Southern Women’s Shows in Orlando and Jacksonville during October and presented “Coupon Queeny” Tanya Senseney, who shows consumers how to cut their grocery bills in half. One contest winner from each city won a shopping spree with Tanya at a local grocery store, as well as a gift card and got milk? gift basket. The Orlando shopping spree was featured on two local TV stations.
At each show, attendees sampled Domino’s American Legends pizzas and Yoplait smoothies. Attendees also had their milk mustache pictures taken, and had a chance to spin the Florida dairy farmers’ prize wheel for dairy-related goodies.
As part of their sponsorship of the Southern Women’s Show, Alyssa Greenstein, Registered Dietitian with the Dairy Council of Florida, appeared on Orlando’s TV station WKMG to promote milk’s nutritional value. Alyssa spoke about the importance of a nutrient-rich breakfast and suggested that on-the-go viewers start their day with an easy-to-make Yoplait smoothie. She also told viewers how, penny for penny, dairy is one of the best nutritional values of any food group and urged viewers to “milk their budget” in this tight economy.
