Ingredients:
For the dough -
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cupswhole-wheat flour
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the filling -
- ¼ cup softened butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons flour
For the frosting -
- 6 ounces vanilla Greek yogurt
- 3 ounces low-fat cream cheese
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar and yeast. Allow to sit for 5 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt and mix until the dough is formed. Knead dough, adding more flour if necessary to avoid stickiness. Knead for 5 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, turning the dough to evenly coat with oil. Cover with a damp towel and allow dough to rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes until doubled in size. Remove bowl and divide dough into two portions. Roll out each portion into a 14”x10" rectangle.
To prepare filling: In a bowl, combine butter, sugars, flour and cinnamon. Spread mixture over each dough rectangles. Roll up lengthwise, seal edges and cut into 1 ½" sections. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet ½" apart. Cover with a damp towel and allow filling to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Bake in the preheated oven for 22-27 minutes, or until golden. Allow to cool before applying frosting.
For the frosting: Using a mixer, combine the cream cheese, yogurt and sugar until creamy. Spread over cinnamon rolls and serve.
