Chocolate Waffles with Raspberry Cream Sauce and a cold glass of fresh Florida milk...the perfect way to wake up that special someone on Valentine's Day!
Ingredients
For the waffles:
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 3 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 5 tablespoons sugar
For the raspberry cream sauce:
- 1 ¼ cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- ¼ cup raspberry preserves
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
Preparation
For the waffles:
- In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, butter, sugar, and vanilla, until light and fluffy
- Gently fold the two mixtures together, and pour ½ cup of the batter into preheated and greased waffle iron. Bake until crisp, yet chewy on inside.
- Top with raspberry cream sauce.
For the raspberry cream sauce:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, preserves, and cream cheese.
- Stir in the flour to make a thick sauce.
- Stir in the milk and cook until thick and creamy, about 6 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar.
- Pour over waffles and serve.
