Ingredients

  • ½ cup stout beer
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¾ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt/ pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Assorted items to dip:
  • Bread chunks
  • Sliced apples
  • Sliced pears
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery sticks

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium high heat.
  2. Stir in the flour to make a paste.
  3. Stir in the beer and continue to stir.
  4. Add the milk and cook until it thickens.
  5. Mix in the cheese and mustard and combine until cheese melts and mixture is smooth.
