Soft pretzel bites served with a rich and creamy cheddar cheese dip inspired by traditional German beer cheese, perfect for sharing on game day.

Ingredients
- 2 packages of frozen soft pretzel bites
- Coarse salt to decorate
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup light beer
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
Preparation
- Prepare pretzel bites according to package directions and keep warm.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk and beer (if using) until smooth.
- Stir in Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Reduce heat to low and gradually add cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer dip to a serving bowl, garnish with parsley, and serve warm with pretzel bites.
Note
For an alcohol-free version: Substitute the beer with an additional 1/4 cup milk.
