Ingredients

  • 2 cups pre-cooked white cornmeal (masarepa)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup crumbled queso fresco
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, mozzarella, queso fresco, and salt.
  2. Add milk, butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into small balls and flatten into mini arepas.
  4. Heat a lightly greased skillet over medium heat. Cook arepas 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy.
