Ingredients

  • 1-1 1/4 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium Vidalia/sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 medium orange bell pepper, seeded and chopped - simple substitution: 3 mini sweet peppers
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, cubed - I used the low fat variety
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese
  • Baguette slices or tortilla chips, to serve

Preparation

  1. Heat a broiler-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the beef and cook thoroughly.
  2. Preheat oven to broil.
  3. Add in the onions and peppers to the skillet with the beef and continue to cook until the vegetables are tender, approximately 7 minutes.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for 1 additional minute. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add in the Florida milk, cream cheese, and mozzarella.
  6. Stir until smooth.
  7. Cover the mixture with the provolone cheese slices.
  8. Broil the dip until the cheese is melted and bubbly, 2 to 3 minutes. *Watch closely!
