Flaky Portuguese-inspired pastry bites filled with creamy vanilla custard, fresh lemon, and a touch of cinnamon.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 strip lemon peel
- Ground cinnamon for garnish
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400°F and lightly grease a muffin tin.
- Cut puff pastry into circles and press into muffin cups.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk milk, heavy cream, sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, vanilla, lemon zest, lemon juice, and lemon peel until smooth and slightly thickened
- Spoon custard into pastry cups.
- Bake 15–18 minutes or until pastry is golden and custard is set.
- Cool slightly and garnish with cinnamon before serving.
