Take the classic Southern spread up a notch by serving it as a hot and hearty dip.  For best results, do not use pre-shredded cheese.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp. ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 16 ounces extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 (7-ounce) jar diced pimiento, drained
  • ¼ cup chopped green onion
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • A pinch of smoked Paprika (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Combine cream cheese and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl.  Stir well to combine. Add shredded cheese, pimiento, and green onion and stir well to combine.
  3. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 2-quart baking dish. Bake 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.  Serve with pita chips, tortilla chips, flatbread or crackers.

Tips:

We recommend that you shred your cheese.  The dip will come together smoother.

If you have any dip left over, cover and chill and use as a sandwich spread.
