Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 store-bought {or homemade} 9-inch deep dish pie crust
For Jack-O-Lantern face:
- Store-bought pie dough
- Black food coloring
- Green food coloring
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Place the pie crust on a baking pan. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, pumpkin puree, garlic powder and salt until well-combined. Pour the mixture into the pie crust.
- In a small bowl, toss shredded cheddar cheese with 1 tablespoon flour. (This will help keep the cheese from sinking to the bottom during baking.) Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the egg mixture.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until the top of the quiche is puffed and lightly browned. It should jiggle a bit in the middle, but be set and not watery.
- Meanwhile, cut out the eyes, mouth and “vines” of your jack-o-lantern using cookie cutters or a sharp paring knife. Get creative! Place on a parchment or silicone baking mat-lined pan. Place the pan in the oven with the quiche for the last 5-7 minutes of bake time.
- Remove quiche and pie dough cut-outs from the oven and allow to cool slightly before removing and decorating the top of the quiche. Serve warm, cold or at room temp!
