Ingredients
- 2 & 1⁄2 cups water
- 1 cup of long grain white rice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup half n half
- 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for garnish)
Preparation
- Thoroughly wash and rinse the white rice.
- Add water, rice, cinnamon sticks, and salt into a large pot over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it cook for roughly 15 minutes.
- Stir in the milk, half n half, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Raise the temperature to medium high again, bring to a boil, then reduce back to low, and cook for 25-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. This process helps the mixture become thick and creamy.
- Cut the heat once the mixture is thick. Let it cool for roughly 40 minutes before adding in the vanilla protein powder.
- Mix in the vanilla protein powder. Cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours then serve cold and garnish with ground cinnamon.
