Ingredients

  • 4 slices cooked bacon, diced
  • 1 1/3 cup quick cooking grits
  • 1 cup milk (low fat or whole)
  • 4 1/3 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup shredded Colby/jack cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, bring the grits, milk, water and salt to a boil.
  2. Cover, and reduce heat to low.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes, or until thick and creamy.
  4. Remove from heat, and stir in the cheese and bacon.
  5. Garnish with additional cheese and bacon if desired.
